"Order the Maternity Access and Advocacy Pack for FREE - pay only for P&P
The Maternity Access and Advocacy Pack consists of three storyboards containing illustrations drawn from pregnancy, birth and postnatal care, and a supporting booklet. It is designed for use with groups with the aim of improving access to maternity care. Groups use the pictures to identify issues for discussion rather than following prescribed topics.
The supporting booklet contains further information about NHS maternity care and how to address any difficulties a woman may encounter in her care. It covers interpreters, consent, choice, domestic abuse, mental health, engagement with social services and other issues. The storyboards and booklet emphasise the importance of early attendance for antenatal care.
The Pack was developed in close partnership with user groups from diverse ethnic communities. The images show women and health workers from a number of different ethnic backgrounds.
