The bednest - alongside cot |
The Bednest is a newly designed bedside cot which enables you to sleep alongside your baby keeping them within easy reach throughout the night.
Ideal for night feeds, the Bednest is a must-have for any mothers intending to breastfeed or those with mobility problems. Research has shown that sleeping alongside your baby improves your chances of breastfeeding and with the Bednest bedside cot, you can stay tucked up in bed, rolling across to feed your baby when needed.
Being close to your new baby all night whilst each having your own sleeping space gives you the best of both worlds and if your baby cries or becomes unsettled during the night, you can quickly comfort them before others are woken. The proximity of the Bednest also makes life easier in the early days after a caesarean or if you are not able to move easily.
The benefits of the Bednest include:
- The safest place for a new baby to sleep is in their parents bedroom and the Bednest provides your baby with their own sleeping space next to your bed
- Sleeping alongside your baby helps to improve your chances of breastfeeding and the position of the Bednest means feeding can be done without having to get out of bed
- The proximity of the Bednest helps to develop bonding between mother, father and baby and if your baby stirs you can easily settle them back to sleep.
- The positioning of the Bednest on the bedside is also beneficial for any Mums who have undergone a caesarean or who have mobility problems.
Made with a lightweight wooden frame and nylon fabric washable sides, the Bednest cot comes complete with a foam mattress, requires no assembly and is ready to use in seconds.
The fully adjustable base of the cot is secured to your bed with a strap which works with frame and divan beds. The cot top fixes securely to this. When alongside your bed the cot is easily adjusted to be level with your mattress. The fabric side is lowered onto your mattress to allow you to move your baby in and out of your bed whilst you are lying down.
You might prefer to lower it half way so you can stroke or reassure your baby during the night without them being able to wriggle into your bed.
You can lift and use the cot part of your baby’s bed unit around the house during the day for daytime naps. The BedNest also works as a standalone cot. The whole unit can be packed flat and stowed in a convenient carry-bag in less than two minutes, allowing you to take your baby's bed with you when staying away from home, so your baby sleeps in a familiar bed wherever you are.
BedNest provides a compact all in one sleep solution that is at once functional, safe and stylish.
Cot Side Height: 35cm Cot Width: 45cm Cot Length: 85cm
Cot height fully assembled - will match your bed height.
Award-winning design
This new design comes from the winners of the Concept 2005 Design Award at the Baby and Child International Fair, promoting “Safe Sound Sleep”. Be the first to have one, and combine an evidence based sleeping arrangement with style and simplicity.
The Bednest bedside cot has recently been awarded the coveted Mother & Baby magazine Gold Award 2010/2011 for Best Moses Basket or Crib.
Jools and Jamie Oliver recently choose to sleep their baby son, Buddy Bear Maurice in a Bednest, here’s what Jools had to say about the Bednest.
“We love the bednest we have never had anything like it before for our other three children. I love the way it is so close to our bed the sides are really easy to pull down and I could practically roll little Buddy from my boob to bed!!!!!
Easy and definitely eliminates the fear of falling asleep with them in your bed and suffocating them as they lay safe next to you but in their own safe little Cosy bed Brilliant! Also large enough to last longer than the Moses, Buddy now sleeps in the bednest in his nursery as I think he is a little small for his cot so it's perfect.” – Jools Oliver
SAFETY INFORMATION
Please can we ask you to follow the instructions below and tighten the sliding locks on your Bednest?
- Remove the crib from the stand
- Undo the strap attachment from your bed
- Lower the stand to its folded position
- With the lock in its open position, turn it clockwise as far as you can. It will be stiff and you may need to use a pair of pliers.
- Close the lock. If, now that you have tightened it, you can cannot fully close it, turn the lock anti-clockwise 180 degree. It should now lock and be correctly set.
Your baby's safety is our priority and as a precaution we suggest that all Bednest users make this check, and adjustment if necessary, irrespective of the height at which you are using the cot.

Great crib |

| Love this crib, our little one has slept great in it and I love being able to watch him sleep laying next to him. Its also been a really useful travel cot, albeit a bit clunky to pack. However, the sheets that come with it are very poor quality, piling every time they were washed, after a dozen washes we gave up on them and bought some crib flat sheets instead. Also the mattress went mouldy very quickly so may be worth buying a different mattress too. |

Very comfortable for baby |
Date Posted: 05/10/2011 |
| We bought this for our son not from NCT though as it was currently out of stock and added a different organic mattress from Little Green Sheep as they do a high quality matress to fit the bed nest.
As someone else said, it seems to reduce night time crying as your baby knows you are close by and when he wakes and needs a feed I wake as he starts to stir, so no need for him to cry.
Initially he hated it as he found it very exposed after the moses basket we had him in first. However after about 4 weeks he adored it and slept through 6 hrs at a stretch from being 6 weeks.
Would strongly recommend for the following reasons:
- high degree of comfort for baby
- reassuring for new parents as you can see baby breathing and sleeping soundly right by you
- great for breastfeeding as you can just lift baby across to you at the same level
- very sturdy and safe |

Fantastic product |

| I bought this when my daughter was a few days old, having undergone an emergency cs. It is a fantastic product, which makes breastfeeding throughout the night easy. The baby is only inches away and you can see, hear and touch her without having to get out of bed, or fully wake up. Being comforted by our close presence, our baby slept well from a few weeks old and hardly ever cried during the night- to signal hunger she simply wriggled around a bit and looked up expectantly. Unlike bedsharing, there is no risk of the baby falling out or being suffocated. We used this product for our baby until she was 5 months old, when she outgrew it and happily transitioned into a cot. The design is stylish, and practical as it is easy to clean and folds down into a small package for travel or storage. Very highly recommended! |

Only one little draw back for me |
Date Posted: 30/07/2011 |
| This is a great idea, and I do love it. The problem for us has been that from day 1 our baby is very mobile, and managed to get himself out of the bednest in to our bed, so we have to put the side half way up. Now, he shuffles right up to the side as if he is trying to get to me. 1 good thing for us is that we have been able to slant the cot well as our baby has reflux.
I also dont think our baby will be able to stay in it anywhere near up to 6 months. More like 4 I reckon. |

A great buy |

| We originally had our baby in a moses basket in our bedroom. However, we had to get up if we wanted to check on her, which was frequently at first !!, as you can not see into a moses basket. I had also had an emergency casearan so getting in and out of bed, to start with was difficult.
We bought the bednest as soon as it was available, our daughter was by then about 6 weeks old.
The bednest is a very good design, our daughter has bad reflux, but the base on the bednest allowed us to raise the head of the cot so that she was less likely to bring her feed up. it assembles very easily and we have taken it away on a number of occasions and used it at relatives homes it folds fairly flat so is easy to transport - one gripe the handle of the bag it folds into is not good for carrying the weight of the bed and makes your hand hurt when carrying it and she sleeps easily, as this is the bed she is used to. The sides drop down easily and so it is easy to calm her if she wakes in the night. I also think she goes back off to sleep if she wakes, because she is reassured that she can see us. All in all, we think the design of this bed is great and would recommend it to others. |
